What is a Duty / Assistant Manager?
A Duty/Assistant Manager in the active leisure sector supports the smooth running of leisure facilities, ensuring a high-quality experience for customers. They assist the General or Fitness Manager with operational tasks, oversee day-to-day activities and manage staff. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, welcoming and efficient environment within gyms, sports centres, swimming pools or leisure clubs.
Your responsibilities
- Supervising daily operations, ensuring facilities are safe and meeting customer expectations
- Assisting in staff management, including training, scheduling and performance monitoring
- Responding to customer queries, feedback and complaints to ensure satisfaction
- Enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and responding to emergencies
- Supporting in managing budgets, stock levels and equipment maintenance
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and local regulations
- Liaising with senior management to improve services, increase memberships and drive revenue
