What is an Assistant Project Manager?
Assistant Project Managers work closely with Project Managers to provide assistance in coordinating projects from start to finish. They also work with clients to identify their needs and organise them into practical steps, whilst identifying their budget requirements. Assistant Project Managers may also handle small projects assigned to them by Project Managers. In the Project Managers absence, Assistant Project Managers can step up in the role. Assistant Project Managers perform tasks that smooth the operations of project management.
Your responsibilities
- Supporting the project team in delivering the lifecycle of a project
- Reviewing, analysing and providing feedback on a business case to ensure the project remains valid
- Contributing to and delivering elements of the stakeholder engagement process and collaborating with stakeholders to communicate the project plan
- Developing, updating and continually reviewing relevant sections of the project scope document
- Preparing documents or diagrams which illustrate and deliver the key milestones and stages of a project schedule
- Planning the resources required to deliver a project or the activities within the project
- Using quality management systems to ensure that project delivery meets legislative and local requirements
- Identifying and managing risks and opportunities, to drive the successful delivery of the project
- Contributing to the production and presentation of the key project documents through governance to gain approval
- Monitoring and reporting on budget forecast, spend and variance
- Collating, analysing and reporting on data relating to the project performance
- Monitoring performance trends and process change controls to support the management of project scope
- Reviewing the project and reporting on lessons learned which contribute to continuous improvement for future project delivery
