What is a Warehouse Manager?
A Warehouse Manager is responsible for a vital part of the supply chain process, they will manage people, processes, and systems to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately, and that productivity targets are met.
They also be responsible for workplace health and safety standards and for the security of the building and stock. Specialist warehouses may store temperature-controlled products, such as food, pharmaceuticals, and hazardous materials.
Your responsibilities
- Completing performance development reviews (PDR) / staff appraisals for transport / warehouse team members
- Carrying out disciplinary meetings and managing grievances as per organisational giudelines
- Leading team and departmental communications and meetings
- Carrying out risk assessments appropriate to work environments in accordance with the Health and Safety Executive
- Identifying and proposing innovative business improvements
- Reviewing and measuring the performance of warehouse operations to inform improvements to safe operating processes and systems i.e. picking, stowing, dispatch
- Leading and reviewing the process for returned, damaged goods, customer bespoke and direct orders
- Supervising loading to ensure correct procedures are used
- Communicating with internal and external customers using various communication methods
